First Sergeant Shilo Yosef Amir, 22

Kedumim Terror Attack

First Sergeant Shilo Yosef Amir, 22

July 6, 2023 - In the terrorist attack near Kedumim Thursday afternoon, IDF soldier Shilo Yosef Amir 22, was murdered.

Shilo, a resident of Kibbutz Meirav, a religious kibbutz in the Beit Shean valley, was a member of the commando unit of the Givati brigade. He was buried on Friday morning in the Mt. Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem. He is survived by his parents and four siblings.

Initial investigations revealed that the incident began when IDF security forces identified and stopped a suspicious car for checking. During the course of the check, the terrorist who was in the car opened fire on them. The forces returned fire but the terrorist escaped. The forces chased after him, succeeded in locating him and neutralized him. Amir was critically injured in the shooting and after resuscitation efforts doctors were forced to declare him dead at the scene.

Rabbi Shilo Marom who taught Shilo when he studied at the Keshet pre-military program, said that “Shilo was full of life, enjoyed life and had a radiant expression. He wanted his military service to be significant and therefore came here to clarify his own values and those of the Jewish people. He loved hiking and was a very sincere friend and a man of truth.

“Despite the operation in Jenin and the hard work, there is still much to do to remove the scourge of Jews being killed in the land of Israel,” Rabbi Marom concluded.
